Autumn and winter are now behind us, the air is starting to warm and we all look forward to relaxing at the end of a day enjoying a sunset and chilling out with a good gin and tonic. So we at Lloyd’s Liquid Sunshines are proud to introduce our latest creation: the Flowery Two, the second gin in our prestigious High Tea Collection and one that we strongly believe will become a paradigm of elegance and refinement among quality spirits.
With its deep blend of lavender flowers and lemongrass, enriched by a secret infusion of tea blends and distilled in a direct heat still The Flowery Two captures the essence of spring in a glass: a fragrant gin with floral hints, green notes and pungent spices. The colour is deep amber.
We were inspired by lush spring meadows sparkling with greenery and flowers. Nor did we name this gin The Flowery Two by chance: the name reflects the main tasting notes, which are flowers and aromatic herbs.
In our opinion the recipe for a perfect gin and tonic is simple : an appropriate glass filled with ice, 5cl (or 7cl for the more bold among us) of The Flowery Two, 20cl of an Indian Tonic, no garnish, no frills.
A golden gin and tonic to match the Golden Hour (remember to take some photos and post them on social).
And BTW do you know how and why the gin and tonic was created? The British soldiers of the East India Company were given tonic water rich in quinine in their rations as a prophylaxis against malaria. Quinine is a natural extract used to treat malaria but it does have a very bitter taste, so to make the drink more acceptable the military corrected it with a dose of gin! As the late great actor Terry-Thomas succinctly put it: “gin to fight the boredom of exile and quinine to fight malaria”.
